At last week’s 2016 PGA Merchandise Show, Kate Green (in green) from Chilly Cheeks had the pleasure of having the 2015 Women’s VGA Champion, Kristine Engelhaupt (in red) stop by our booth. Kristine is a proud member of Veteran’s Golfers Association whose mission is committed to promoting the game of golf to veterans and their family members. The VGA develops programs that allow their members to compete, socialize, and remain physically active through the game of golf. The VGA is an international golf development organization introducing the game of golf and its inherent values to veterans and their family members. Through local inter-club league play, tournaments, and national qualifiers, they help reinforce values like integrity, respect and perseverance through the game of golf. Additionally, the VGA offers family oriented activities that will help veterans and their family members increase the amount of quality time spent together, be more physically active, and be more involved in their communities.
Last fall Leslie Baker, Chilly Cheeks inventor, was getting ready for her tee-time at Pinehurst in NC and noticed all the signs for the VGA event. Leslie took a few minutes to find the conference room where they were meeting and gladly donated two Chilly Cheeks golf cart seat covers for the event. Not knowing where it would lead, Leslie was delighted Kristine stopped by at the PGA show to share her story. The Chilly Cheeks Team is now working with Joshua Peyton, VGA’s President, on this year’s regional events to support their efforts.
